We’d love to come to your school or event to share our passion for rescue dogs and read this sweet story of Ava and Prince.
Ava is available for appearances, and children LOVE her.
For school visits, students will not be able to pet Ava, but they can delight in seeing her goofy smiles and fun-loving personality. She knows a few tricks, too. We also can speak on topics such as, animal empathy, compassion and kindness, family and love, rescue dogs, responsible pet ownership and how to pet a dog.

WHAT SCHOOLS ARE SAYING :
“Thank you again for taking the time to visit our 1st and 3rd graders with your message around the positive impact of your rescue dogs through empathy, family and love. We hope you enjoyed reading and visiting with our students as much as our students and team enjoyed having you here at Howbert within District 11.”
Bryan K. Relich, Howbert Elementary School Principal
Colorado Springs School District 11
“Ms. Joy Sewing graced us with her reading of “Ava and the Prince.” The book has wonderful characters and portrays
a picture of how rescue dogs can thrive into a loving environment. Ms. Sewing is passionate and does a wonderful job engaging students. Our students also were recipients of her kindness when she gifted each of them with a plush dog and a copy of her book. They were full of gratitude and excitement. Thank You Ms. Joy for sharing your gifts with us.”

“Joy Sewing read to our 2nd graders as a part of our Read Across America week. She was absolutely amazing! She was friendly, engaging, informative, and interactive. The students loved hearing her read her book and enjoyed meeting Ava. We are looking forward to inviting Joy back next year to read to our students again next year. “
Tonika Greenwood-Cramond, M.Ed.
Marshall Elementary School
“Excitement and wonder are the first expressions as the kids enter spying Ms. Ava and Ms. Joy on the stage awaiting their story time and questions! They were absolutely thrilled to see a “real dog!” They were entranced by the amazing story of Ava and the Prince finding a forever home and all the funny antidotes that came with it- name changes, chewed up shoes and all the love the story exudes. Ms. Joy taught them the proper way to approach and meet a new dog with permission, how dogs show love and how you know they are happy! They will be talking about this visit all year!!! Silvercrest Elementary Loves Ms. Joy and Ava!!”

“ Recently, we had the pleasure of having Joy Sewing, Ava and The Prince Book Tour visit The Imani School! Joy was such a natural. She just dived right in with the students. Students were engaged and had fun learning about Joy’s rescue boxers, Ava and Prince and what makes them so special. Through ‘Ava and The Prince’ reading, the students learned why adopting a rescue dog is so important. Joy, thank you for bringing laughs, your book tour and, most importantly, a lesson of compassion to our students.”
